Straight To The Rights

Kuya-Etta Discussion. Photo by: Juvel Tadena

Get It Straight with Daniel Razon.

a. Mapakanta kahit walang tugtog,
c. Matigilan sandali kahit walang stop light, or
d. Mapikon.

This time, I tried hard to focus on the discussion of the Kuya Daniel’s Get It Straight December 1 episode with guest Commission on Human Rights Chairperson Loretta “Etta” Rosales. I found a smooth-sailing discussion, and I learned a lot kahit may mga mahirap na legal terms na ginamit. I really had to prepare a paper and a pen to take down as fast as I could all the important details of their get-it-straight conversation.

Photo by: Juvel Tadena

Marami palang naiwang mga asikasuhin kay Chair. Etta tulad ng Vizconde Case, and Morong  43, to name some. She wants Human Rights be practiced to each other, from the janitor to the officers. Para mangyari yon, they have to equip themselves with International Standards/International Human Rights Instruments.

de·hu·man·ize (d-hym-nz)
tr.v. de·hu·man·ized, de·hu·man·iz·ing, de·hu·man·iz·es
1. To deprive of human qualities such as individuality, compassion, or civility: slaves who had been dehumanized by their abysmal condition.

There is what she said, kailangang i-destroy ang warlord rule!

warlord – supreme military leader exercising civil power in a region especially one accountable to nobody when the central government is weak

Let them know that they have Human Rights. Let them know na hindi sila nag-iisa. Well, lalakas nga ang loob ko kapag nalaman kong hindi ako nag-iisa no, at least man lang dalawa kami.

Naramdaman kong gustong-gusto ni Madam Chair. si Justice Secretary Leila de Lima. Sinabi niya kay Kuya Daniel na perfect combination ngayon ang Commission on Human Rights at ang Department of Justice dahil si Madam de Lima ang nakaupo ngayon sa DoJ as Secretary. “She has been terrific,” sabi ni Mam Etta. “We need her more than anybody else,” seryoso niyang sinabi, kundi ako nagkamali ng rinig.

"Palaganapin ang Human Rights in every area of governance" - Etta Rosales. Photo by: Juvel Tadena

1st Command – Dismantle the private armies of the politicians – dahil malamang sa nangyari sa Ampatuan.

2nd Command – Palaganapin ang Human Rights in every area of governance.

Meron daw kasing hindi makakapunta sa paglilitis and they have the right to know kung ano na ang nangyayari, either mapapanood sa TV, or maririnig sa radio.

After giving Mam Etta her command to P-Noy, tinanong din ni Kuya kung sino ang boss ni Chairperson at sabi niya na ang mamamayan ang boss niya. And since Mam Etta agreed na mamamayan si Kuya Daniel, he commanded Madam Chair. na ayusin niya ang Commission on Human Rights, and she accepted it very gladly.  ^_^

Keep watching Get It Straight with Daniel Razon, Monday to Friday at 7PM, with replays at 6:45pm after Ito Ang Balita on UNTV.

Straight On The Webb

For years kasi ay nasa kulungan ang kanyang anak.

P.S. – My blog has finally got its aesthetic look. Thanks for the great shots and clear photos by: Mr. Juvel Tadena

Transient Home- Another reason to thank the Lord

Transient Home

Transient Home

I was so touched when I first saw this kind of establishment. A simple two-story building painted orange and white. I got curious so I decided to enter the building. The security guard smiled at me so I guessed he really wanted me to realize that the “house” is for everybody. I already had an idea that inside would be numerous double-deck beds. I have watched it on TV.

As I walked through, a memory came to my mind – when I was a bed-spacer in college seven years ago. I can’t remember exactly if it was P2,000 a month but I really needed to pay every month for me to enjoy the rent of the bed. But this transient home is very much different because (it’s not a bed-space in the first place) it is free, has no payment, gratis; how else?

I heard also that it offers free meal, clothing, medical assistance, AGAIN – ALL FOR FREE! I am still about to learn more about the good things of that transient.

But I believe the most moving part of all was when I saw a picture that has a Bible verse on it. I read it whole-heartedly and my soul felt an indescribable feeling.

Deuteronomy 15:11- For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

I felt tears in my eyes and gladness in my heart realizing that God has commanded somebody to open his hand wide to the needy. I turned my attention to another picture and I saw a portrait of a man in his eyeglasses. I recognized him- Bro. Eli Soriano. I was very sure that he was commanded by God in that verse. If he’s not been, why was he doing all these kindness and efforts? Well, only God knows the intention of a man’s heart and us to feel it. But others don’t and can’t even appreciate goodness in life, they get insecured instead.

I wonder why some people hate Bro. Eli. What evil did he do to them? There is none, is there? Is it this transient home project which they are angry for? If not, then which one? For whatever their reason, I don’t have any interest to know. What I am up into is the good perspective in life. Let them live with the monster in their hearts. Just wishing someday the monster leaves and they realize. (Sigh)

After such experience, I immediately wanted to thank the Lord. The reason: I felt God’s love to the poor and needy people by using Bro. Eli Soriano thru that Transient Home amidst all the ups and downs in life.

Amen.
